Carbon concentration increases with depth. Upwelling DOC and DIC from the below the thermocline to fertilize kelp will likely result in a net increase of CO2 in the atmosphere. No silver bullets in the fight against climate change, this is a brass pellet to fight food insecurity at the expense of the carbon system. It’s just industrial agriculture in the ocean with a prettier name.
